Residential Group Home

Residential Group Home

Helping Hands becomes a temporary home for many of its emergency-placed residents. We are a Level 1 DSS Residential facility which means child victims of abuse, who do not have significant, maladaptive patterns of emotional or behavioral problems are given the opportunity to reside at our agency.

As an agency, we strive not to disrupt the lives of our residents with placement changes, so a resident’s stay at the agency can range from one day to several years. There is no time limit on a resident’s stay, but the average stay is approximately 4 months.

Like any home, our children have rules and regulations to follow. Some of these rules include firm bed times on week days and on weekends, descriptive chore and task lists in each program, life skills class participation, volunteering regularly and taking part in after school tutoring on campus.

There are five programs within the agency that provide 24-hour care for the residents:
Nursery- ages birth to 3
School Age- ages 4 to 12
Teenage mothers (age 13 – 21) and their babies
Teenage girls- ages 13 to 21
Teenage boys- ages 13 to 21
