A Thank You from “The Melting Pot”

13th Annual A Chef’s Extravaganza a Hit

thankyoucollageOn November 11, more than 180 guests, 10 participating chefs, 12 student volunteers and lots of hardworking wait staff filled various rooms at Woodside Plantation Country Club for the annual A Chef’s Extravaganza event, benefiting our agency.

The event, whose theme was “America: The Melting Pot” in honor of Veterans Day, allowed guests from the CSRA and beyond to venture to the club to experience a night unlike any other in our community!

For the second time running, we sold out of the main room before the event, but luckily we have been able to extend our "reach" from the main ball room into the Mulligans room of the club to allow for more seating.

The husband and wife duo – Jason and Ashley Morgan - of Morgana Photos snapped shots of guests, chefs, food, wine and everything in between.  Our long-time musical friends One A’Chord played light jazz and several familiar tunes while guests ate and drank great food and wine.

Ten chefs from all over our community participated and we could not be more grateful to the amount of professionalism and amazing tastes they brought to the tables!

Three area chefs were new to the event and we again, thank them graciously for participating. We hope to see you back next year, Chefs Katie and Chad Jajczyk of The Bradley and Alloro (respectively) and Chef Michael McFadden of Malia’s!

Assisting the chefs with prepping and plating the dishes for the second time in a row were Ms. Jean Gorthy and several of her Aiken High School Culinary Arts students.

Before the event, Meadows Media, LLC debuted the 2016 agency video for Helping Hands. This year’s video featured two youth volunteers, Jashon and Jules Jenkins as the hosts and included an interview from Director of Residential Services Monica Jeffcoat, several pieces of artwork with residents explaining why they love Helping Hands and a community education piece about our Aiken Youth Empowerment programming.

We had an incredible turnout and lots of wonderful success from the event, but we could not have done any of it without the loyalty and on-going support from YOU, our donors, investors and friends! Thank you to EVERYONE who had a part in making this year’s A Chef’s Extravaganza such a wonderful night for all involved!
