In observance of Sex Ed for All Month and Teen Pregnancy Prevention Month, I want to first thank all instructors that were able to implement the curriculum in their classrooms.  We are working to continue providing quality, evidencedbased reproductive health curriculum to the youth in Aiken County Public Schools and any youth serving organizations. We want to ensure that they have a trusted adult somewhere: parent, family member, or teacher.

Over the past few years, there has been a decrease in teenage pregnancy in Aiken County. I would like to think that that is due to the awesome work of instructors in Aiken County that have implemented the reproductive health curriculum in the schools and trusted adults are having those conversations with our teens.

Even though the the teen pregnancy rate has gone down, we know that there is still work to be done. There are still teen moms in Aiken County. Because there is a need, we are now offering an evidenced-based curriculum designed for teen moms ages 15- 19. AIM for Teen Moms (AIM4TM) was developed to meet the needs of teen mothers centered on preventing rapid repeat pregnancy as well as improving educational outcomes and economic stability. Due to COVID, the sessions can be held virtually and in-person. The teen moms who participate will have the opportunity to receive up to $100  and will gain a wealth of knowledge and resources. The program will only cost them their time. All materials will be provided.

If you are a teen mom, or know someone who is, visit the AIM4TM web page to learn more or please have her contact me at tgoode@aikenyouthempowerment.org or by phone at 803-648-3456 ext. 105.
